Initial Thoughts

I feel like digital/electronic media is slowly taking the ability to think for ourselves away. Whenever you type something on the Internet browser, it always finishes your website for you. It knows what you want before you even know what you want. On Microsoft word, if you type "Dear Person", a little computer pops up in the corner and says "it look like your trying to write a letter! do you need help?". Even right there when i was typing "you" i almost typed "u". It is taking our intellectuality, and our individuality away from us.

  1. I really appreciate how you thought more deeply about how electronics are taking over our minds. Also how you explain in details specifically how it's affecting us.

I understand how technology these days really affects our ability to think for ourselves. I can see that when your online searching for stuff, the computer always finishes your sentences for you like your dumb.

This connects to everybody because Microsoft word and the internet always finishes what we have to say but it ain't so bad because that's one less thing to worry about.

I think you should add a lot more to your evidence explaining what it does to us and what can we do to fix it.

Your post makes me consider about the possibility of trying to make humans a lot smarter than computers. Making humans actually work for their resources.

I enjoy reading our blog and will come back to see how you develop in your thinking.

  2. Elvis,

Thank you for taking the time out to comment on my blog post. I enjoyed how you kept it personable and connected it to your own life. I never knew you could write like that. I agree I do need to go more in depth with my thoughts, but I'm still in the middle of trying to figure out what i really think about digitalization taking over the world. I will definitely add more in the near future. It was helpful to me when you added on to my post by and reiterated it, by saying that you think Humans should actually work for their resources. I think we feel the same way, and I would like to build off of your ideas, because you have some good ones. Please keep commenting on my blog so I can keep seeing how you feel and try to jump off of your ideas. Like the fact that computers are trying to think for us. I know they're trying to make it easier for us, but do the "creators" not realize that we're barely doing anything for ourselves? Thank you for your post and i look forward to building ideas with you.

  4. I like how even when this post is short it says your fears about technology to come. You realized things that people have not pointed out, like how the little computer guy talks about writing letters. I also notice sometimes that when I'm typing it sounds like I am writing a text message, which is a problem.

I think your main post is that we are getting lazier with how computers finish writing words for us, or how we have tabs open, and how the internet remembers links. I understand what you are saying in your post, and agree with you. It is more convienent sometimes for us not to have to type things out all the time, yet it slows down our way of thinking.

I noticed there is a new thing you can install called "top sites" which remembers all of the most recent websites visited. Top sites really irritates me because right now I am on my dad's computer which is not used a lot, so some of the top sites are blogger, and people's blogs.

Your thoughts are always enjoyable to read, yet you don't always push yourself to the next level. I think you could expand on your fears for technology in the future.

The main thing you made me think about is how on Word whenever you try and list things it automatically reformats and makes bullet points for the list. Everything on Word that tries to help me in that way annoys me.

    Keep up the good work!
